Key Terms
1. Primary Source - Data from a primary source is firsthand information collected from the original source by the person or organisation needing the data. E.g. a survey an individual student conducts.
2. Secondary Source - Data from a secondary source has been collected, published and possibly summarised by someone else before we use it. E.g. data collected from newspaper articles, textbooks or the internet.
Key Terms
1. Population - the complete set of all elements to be studied, (everything that belongs to the group you are studying)
2. Census - When an entire population (e.g. a maths class, all the cars in a parking lot or a whole country) is surveyed, it is called a census. 3. Survey - When a subset of the population is surveyed, it is called asample. Samples should be randomly selected and large enough to represent the views of the overall population.
