Metaphase
Genetic Material - Chromosomes are aligned along the equator (middle) of the cell. This organisation helps to ensure that in the next phase, when the chromosomes are separated, each new nucleus will receive one copy of each chromosome.
Spindle Fibres - Spindle fibres align the chromosomes along the equator (middle) of the cell. Some texts will call this line the metaphase plate. |
